Plastic Free Gifting

Did you know that in the UK we use over 227,000 miles of wrapping paper each year? Much of this can't be recycled as it either contains glitter or plastic tape. My favourite replacements are:

Old manuscript paper or even old atlas pages or similar would do. I love the rustic look, tied with string or old ribbon (that we already have). I sometime add cinnamon bark or dried orange slices to add further decoration too.

Brown paper wrapping - I often reuse paper bags for this and some shops even add markings on their bags to help you cut them up efficiently to use!

I was brought up re-using so yes, wrapping paper is often folded up after use and stashed away to be used again, gift bags are re-used too.

Furoshiki - the Japanese art of fabric wrapping. I'm working on mastering some of the more simple designs!

For labels we save our cards, cut them up and use them. My hope is that I have kept last year's safe so that I can simply attach them to the right presents leaving more time for films and mulled wine!
